About Glass Blowing Artist Michelle Kaptur
I have been dancing with glass since 1975.
The medium of glass is always whispering to me,
and I find my best work when I listen—
be it in vases, wine glasses, bowls, or freeform vessels.
I have been dancing with glass since 1975.
The medium of glass is always whispering to me,
and I find my best work when I listen—

I turn to nature for color inspiration and guidance, and am generally more interested in organic forms than in symmetry. Deserts, mountains, water, wildlife, and prehistoric art open me up to what glass might say to me. When I travel, I use my camera to capture ideas, which often show up in my art glass.
Interestingly enough, I do my best problem-solving and creative preparing when I’m asleep. I usually have no idea what I am going to make in my studio until I get up, and go stand in front of many different colors of glass with a cup of coffee in hand.
I am very blessed to have this relationship with glass. I thank everyone who has supported me in my work.
I am especially thankful for my studio assistant Mark Gordon who helps in all ways. The SoulBursts endeavor is too big for just one person, and Mark has been my steadfast helper and friend for many years.
Mark is also a glass artist in his own right. You can see his work at www.markgordonglass.com
